This figure can still mount up in just a matter of years, if not given proper attention by parents in the main.

It's hard to leave children especially those in their toddler years with only a babysitter or an adult left to attend to all their needs. However, the problem becomes even more unbearable when your children are left with someone who doesn't have a single idea on how to properly care for little kids. With all these in mind, it is best that parents like you should take the initiative to: First, secure all appliances and unplug those that need to be unplugged. This way, you help avoid cases of fire and possible explosions. Second, make sure all door and window locks are functioning to the fullest. If there are defective locks and bolts, have them repaired or changed at once. Lastly, educate the babysitter, nanny or whoever will attend to your child when you're not at home. As much as possible, explain every little detail you want them to do and ensure that your child's needs and safety is the utmost concern.

By simply telling your child not to talk to strangers is considered one baby step towards introducing the subject of 'safety' further to your child.

When going to public places like malls, parks, restaurants, and other crowded places, make it a point that you always keep an eye of your child, that you always hold his hand wherever you go, and you don't entrust him to somebody you don't know. There may be times when he needs to play all by himself. But as you let him explore, experience, and educate himself about other things, make certain that you're just a distance away from him - one way of ensuring that he's going to be safe and sound, no matter what.
