. This practice is considered exploitative by many international organizations and is illegal in many countries. Child labour was utilized to varying extents through most of history, but entered public dispute with the advent of universal schooling, with changes in working conditions during the industrial revolution, and with the emergence of the concepts of workers' and children's rights. Child Labour is something which is both harmful for the child as well as the society involved.

According to ucw-project.org the current employment of children in 5-17 years is 19.3 % at 305.7 million those between 5-14 years is 14.5 % at 176.5 million and those in between the age group of 15-17 years is roughly 35.0 % estimated at 129.2 million. According to the accelerating action against child labour" ILO, Geneva, 2010 the present number of Children working in hazardous work within the age group of 5 to 17 years is at estimated 115.3 millions. In many countries all across the globe especially the developed ones or those countries with high literacy rates have put a restriction on the minimum age of the allowable in order to involve a child in a certain employable job. Generally this age is 14 (fourteen) years.

Child labour has its existence in the recent history of mankind within one of the most prominent factors which lead to a new technological age which we have in the 21st century. During the Industrial Revolution, children as young as four were employed in production factories with dangerous, and often fatal, working conditions. Child labour can also be defined as the full-time employment of children who are under a minimum legal age. Based on this understanding of the use of children as labourers, it is now considered by wealthy countries to be a human rights violation, and is outlawed, while some poorer countries may allow or tolerate child labour.

Poverty is cited to be the main reason leading to child labour; though many a times they are forced to work without proper wages too. Many children have been saved from the clutches of sex traders who were ready to exploit these children. Child labour took a very dangerous plus highly unacceptable turn when it was reported that children as young as 5 years of age were put in the flesh trade. This is highly punishable and offend able. Any sane individual will oppose this and oppose it for good. Children are employed in various fields like shoe blacks, selling matches or flowers, mine workers or domestic help. Generally they are underpaid and over used. This is plain torture which is inflicted upon them that too right under our noses. A majority of these people are our neighbours, or owners of small roadside stalls or restaurants.
