We all tell lies and we even justify telling a white lie as adults because we feel that this method is better, safer and less trouble than having to tell the truth. Researchers at the University of Toronto Institute of Child Study also came to the same conclusion.
As parents, we have to encourage telling the truth and we have to say why this is better for everybody all round. It is interesting to note too why kids lie. They mainly do it to solve a problem and that is the only way they know. It is like a faulty survival kit.

We are teaching them above all the consequences of lying and that is a very important part of their upbringing because they will be learning how to be responsible and accountable for their actions.
