It is said that Mahatma Gandhi used to stay here during his visits to Shimla. On the Ridge, Christ Church is situated which is the second oldest church in Northern India. It is a place where one should spend some time in.
The cultural wealth of the state is well preserved in the Shimla State Museum which houses a collection of Pahari paintings, ancient sculptures, bronzes, wood carvings, coins, photographs and also costumes, textiles and jewelry of the region.
At a distance of 2 km from the heart of the city is located Annandalewhich is a lovely picnic spot and playground of Shimla. Another pretty picnic spot is the thickly wooded forest Glenn. It is a calm and tranquil locale with a thick cover of the deodar trees.
