TAKETWO at the London premiere of Salt!
On 16th August taketwo went down to the Empire Cinema in Leicester Square to see
celebrities and fans gathered in celebration for the London premiere of Salt. The film stars Hollywood superstar Angelina Jolie as a CIA officer named Evelyn Salt, whose life is turned upside down when a defector accuses her of being a Russian spy. This causes Salt to go on the run from her colleagues and forces her to use all of her skills acquired over the years to avoid capture. The film is a fast paced action adventure as Salt tries desperately to prove her innocence and tries to uncover the truth behind her own identity. Her motives are constantly questioned as she goes to extreme measures to convince people that she is not a spy, causing everyone to ask the question: Who is Salt?Angelina Jolie fans came from far and wide in hope of catching a glimpse of their favourite star. There were people from France, Italy, USA and Spain who had travelled to London to meet the Hollywood actress. The fans that we managed to speak to had camped out in Leicester square for 27 hours just so they wouldn't lose their place at the premiere, now that's devotion to Jolie. Fans were equipped with homemade banners, posters and t-shirts to show Jolie just how much she means to people.
A black and white carpet was laid for the arrival of Jolie and she certainly did impress. The 35-year-old actress arrived in a nude-coloured Amanda Wakely sequinned dress as she went straight to greeting fans and signing autographs. The actress took her time walking the carpet, which was specifically printed with the name of the film. Some fans were disappointed that her partner, Brad Pitt wasn't there to accompany his wife but he had other duties to fulfil back in L.A.
A list of other celebrities attended the huge blockbuster premiere, including Kerry Katona who posed on the carpet in a Melissa Odabash kaftan. X Factor winners Joe McElderry and Leona Lewis also attended the event as well as Rebecca Adlington fresh from her victory in the Euro Swim Championships, who was dressed in an animal printed mini dress. Jolie hopes that the film is successful because she would like to explore the character in a possible sequel.
