The bustling urban expanse that is known as Delhi is the second most populous metropolis
in India and the eighth largest in the world home to over 12.25 million residents. The Russian embassy was built during the height of the Soviet Union and embodies Stalinist principals in its design; observers are able to see how the building retains its Russian roots with communist undertones. Pakistani High Commission incorporates Islamic style into its premises including the presence of minarets and stunning blue tiled onion domes.
As mentioned earlier Chanakyapuri is also home to lush green parks, of which one of the most prominent is Nehru Park. Established in 1969, the park is named after Indias first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and spans 80 acres within the heart of the diplomatic enclave. The park is home to a variety of activities such as Yoga classes and frequent music concerts organised by the local municipal council.
The National Rail Museum also resides in the regal Chanakyapuri area. Setup in 1977 it is home to a unique collection of trains and rail memorabilia, including the oldest running steam locomotive the Fairy Queen, built in 1855.
Chanakyapuri is just one of many places to visit in the cosmopolitan yet historic metropolis of Delhi.
