It is also caused along with many diseases like obesity
, pregnancy and diabetes. But many people will not be able to diagnose it. People with initially feel numbness and tingling of the hand; these symptoms are often at night and will awake people from sleep. Because while sleeping sometimes we rest in awkward position like sleeping by applying pressure on hand. But this symptom shows that its a starting stage. If this is neglected burning sensation and weakness of hand is developed. The strength of hand is decreased and leads to severe problems like loosing grip and dropping things and unbearable pain from shoulder to wrist.
How can it be treated?
Treatment for CTS is based on the stage or severity of symptoms. If it is in basic or starting stage it can be treated by giving rest to hand and by small massages. For example adjusting your chair to optimize comfort ,periodic resting and stretching exercise of the wrists can reduce carpal tunnel syndrome that are caused by stress. If carpal tunnel is caused due to obesity by just reducing weight it can be controlled.
There are several types of medicines to treat CTS. Vitamin B6, non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs can also be helpful in decreasing the pain of hand or wrist. But while taking medicine you should consult your physician. But if carpal tunnel syndrome is in severe stage it is treated with surgery, it involves severing the band of tissue around the wrist to reduce pressure. After surgery patients should do some small exercises to completely reduce the problem.
How can it be prevented?
So instead of experiencing this problem we should take care or preventive measures before we become a victim of CTS
At workplace, the employers or workers should do the job by taking break periodically.
Everyday we should do some hand exercises to reduce stress
We should be very careful while sleeping because carpal tunnel syndrome mainly occurs during sleep.
