Carole King Tickets - Touring With James Taylor
James Taylor and Carole King have unveiled Monday on the American dates of their highly anticipated tour, Troubadour Reunion
. The kickoff to the U.S. this reunion on stage to mark the 40th anniversary concerts, which allowed them to drill will be given on May 7 in Portland. This program will be preceded abroad in a series of concerts that start at Melbourne, Australia, March 26."In a sense, we started our solo careers" in the same group, "sharing a scene. We have given a show at the Troubadour in Los Angeles that has really allowed us "to emerge and start our careers," said Taylor.
Carole King on the album Sweet Baby James singer in 1970, before Taylor does not participate the following year to his album Tapestry.
"We have begun to occur. Initially, it was in my group, "then" I have encouraged her to sing his own songs, "said Taylor. "She was a writer and was used" to see other people interpret his songs. Carole King wrote, (You Make Me Feel Like A) Natural Woman, performed by Aretha Franklin.
Not only has Carole King found success as a songwriter for other artists, but, with Tapestry, she achieved significant sales and critical acclaim in her own right. The album is ranked as No.36 on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.
While she was at Queens College she befriended Neil Sedaka and Paul Simon. It was also where she first met her songwriting partner -- who eventually became her husband -- Gerry Goffin. She and Goffin began to write songs for other artists and found success with many well-known songs of the day including "Will You Love Me Tomorrow" by The Shirelles, "Take Good Care of my Baby" by Bobby Vee, "The Loco-Motion" by Little Eva, "Up on the Roof" by The Drifters, and "Pleasant Valley Sunday" by The Monkees.
Her solo career was somewhat slow to start, so she diverted her attentions to starting a record label Tomorrow Records. She also divorced Goffin and married Charles Larkey, another songwriter. Together Larkey and King formed The City but their album failed to sell well, nor did her own solo effort Writer (1970).
She reunited professionally with Goffin for 1975's Thoroughbred, which they co-wrote with David Crosby, Graham Nash, and James Taylor. After Thoroughbred she took several years off, before returning in the 80s with Speeding Time (1983) and City Streets (1989).
In 1990 she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and she continues to release albums and tour.
Tapestry has sold over 25 million copies worldwide and earned Carole King, now aged 67, being the first woman to win four Grammys in a single edition.
Taylor, now aged 61, he has won five Grammys during his career. Both are part of Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
The idea of sealing their reunion tour was in the air for years, according to James Taylor. Finally, "we did two years ago a kind of anniversary celebration (the Troubadour) with the original group. And it was so great that we decided "to go" on the road. "
The tour will bring together not only Taylor and King, but key members of their original formation, whose guitarist Danny Kortchmar, drummer Russ Kunkel and bassist Lee Sklar.
