Cape Town Holidays: What To See And Do
Whether you are interested in activities of all descriptions or just want a place
to relax in the sun and soak up some culture, Cape Town holidays are an excellent option. The only thing you need to decide is what you want to do while you're in country.This is an area replete with activities, as well as fun things to see and is great for both singles and families or couples. Don't forget your camera, since there will be photo ops galore.
Beaches. There are quite a few beaches around Cape Town that you can check out. Boulder Beach is where you should head if you want to see penguins. You'll have to stick to the walkways so you don't disturb them, so no sunbathing here.
On other beaches in the area, you'll find soft sand that is white and pristine, along with beautiful ocean. Behind most of the beaches are mountains and rugged terrain which makes for some very cool photographs. There are several beaches within driving distance of Cape Town.
If you prefer to hit a nature reserve, Boulder Beach isn't the only place you can do this. The Cape Point Nature Reserve is another place you might enjoy visiting. It is at the Cape of Good Hope where you can see for yourself why sailors are afraid of the crazy water here.
Shopping is something every traveler must do. There are souvenirs to be had and people back home to buy gifts for, so you'll have to make sure that you hit the Green Market Square. This is a lovely market full of artisan items and souvenirs to take home with you.
Robben Island, a former prison for political prisoners is now a tourist site, as well. It's possible to take a boat out to the island and take a tour around it and through the maximum security prison. A few of the tour guides are actually ex prisoners from the island, making it even more interesting.
A great place to check out if you like plants is Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden. This is where you will see a wide variety of native flora and will be able to learn more about the plants of the region. It's just one of many things to see and do in the city. Enjoy sights via cycling or walking tours, too.
