Buying Clothes For Your Newborn Baby
The 9 months long wait will soon be over and you cant wait to see your baby and hold him
. Amidst all this excitement, you have to be ready with everything when the baby finally arrives. And this includes, shopping for baby clothes. Read on for some essential tips on shopping for your newborn baby.
If you are a first time parent, you must understand that buying baby clothing is nothing like buying clothes for yourself or other grownups. Whether you plan to head to the mall or log on to a renowned online baby store from the comfort of your home, a lot of preparation is needed to make sure you make the right purchases.
A few facts first:
Baby clothing will need to be changed quite a few times in a day- so we are looking at buying a decent number of clothing here.
Babies are delicate and the newborns head are a bit loopy as it takes a while for the neck to gain strength. So avoid clothing that will go over the head because it will trouble the baby when you dress or undress him.
When choosing dress styles keep in mind that it should be uncomplicated enough to allow for quick diaper changes.
Baby skin is very soft. Be careful that there are no itchy tags or zippers or scratchy seams.
Picking the right size is again a challenge. Initially it may seem that the baby is drowning in his 0-3 months T-shirt but remember that babies grow really fast and usually all of them outgrow 0 to 3months clothes very swiftly. Many couples buy excess clothing and horde them to dress up the baby for a special occasion. And usually when that occasion arrives, the baby has outgrown those clothes. So keep in mind to buy from a store with a great return policy on unused items.
There is no set number of clothes you would need. Whether you should get more T shirts and lesser one piece baby suits totally depends on how often you do the laundry. Here is a tip: after a baby, the once a week laundry schedule wont work anymore.
You will have to keep buying clothes continuously because the baby will keep growing. Did you know your baby will double his birth weight when he is 5 months old? Do not buy clothing for 6+ months babies thinking that the baby will fit them in a few months. This is because big size clothing will make him uncomfortable and feel burdened. He will be caught up in the clothings folds and not have the freedom to fully flail his arms and legs about.
At the same time, do not buy the exact size clothes as well. He will not get a chance to wear them enough as he will outgrow them in weeks. So the ideal size is a bit bigger than the exact size.
Buy comfortable-cottony clothing. Synthetic fabrics may cause rashes to erupt. So always buy cotton or fleece T-shirts, one suits or pajamas. The accessories including mittens, socks and gloves must also be of the best make.
Take special care while washing
babies clothes. Wash only those pieces of clothing in the machine which can stand a machine wash. Use mild detergents so that the fabric doesnt lose its softness after a wash.
We hope these few tips will help you choose the right clothes for your baby.
