Babymoons: A Happy (and Safe) Getaway
Babymoons are in vogue these days, but the mere fact that they may be trendy should
not take away from their importance in the growth of a relationship. As anyone with kids can tell you, the first years of a child's life can be very difficult on the parents. Rewarding and joyous, to be certain, but a challenge all the same. One of the greatest differences will be the amount of alone time you have as a couple. As in, you won't have any. This is a near certainty, and it might be nice to get away and enjoy some time together before it becomes a reality. While this vacation can be fun and important, however, it should also be safe. Here are some ways to make sure that it is.
Cut Down On Travel
There's nothing wrong with planning babymoons that take you out of your city and into a foreign milieu. But keep travel time to a minimum. You (or your wife) are pregnant and you need to take that into consideration, especially as you begin nearing your due date. As you probably don't need to be told, this can make regular, everyday activities a bit more uncomfortable than usual. It can make already uncomfortable activities that much more so. Riding in a car for hour after hour is no one's idea of a fun way to spend a day. It can lead to stress and tension, which is exactly what you want to get rid of by taking this vacation.
The Second Trimester
The second trimester is the best time to take babymoons for a number of reasons. For one, most women spend the greater percentage of the first trimester completely oblivious to the fact that they are even pregnant, which makes taking a special vacation in celebration of that fact impossible. The third trimester puts many a woman on her back or at least in a state where she wants to do as little as possible. It is of course not wise to travel far away from your obstetrician when you are quickly approaching your due date. The second trimester is then the perfect compromise.
Restrictions
If you're travelling by car to a hotel, you're not going to encounter any policy restrictions that prevent you from enjoying your vacation. On the other hand, if you're flying on going on a cruise ship, there may indeed be problems. Make sure you figure out whether these will be in place before you head out on your trip! Babymoons can come to a crashing halt if the airline won't let you on the plane.
