British Bulldog Bibliography

Davey Boy Smith was born on the 27th of November in 1962 in North West England

. His middle name is 'Boy' because his mother made a mistake by writing his gender in the line where his middle name was supposed to go. So hopefully thats cleared a thought in most wrestling fans heads. So Davey started his wrestling career by training with Ted Betley in England. He started wrestling when he was 15. He featured in a ITV's World of Sport. He wrestled under the name of Young David and his first televised match was in September 2nd 1978. He drew the match with 2 pinfalls each.

He was then scouted by Bruce Hart and was flown to Calgary, Alberta, Canada where he trained in the infamous Hart Dungeon and he wrestled in Stu Hart's federation Stampede Wrestling. His first feud was with the Dynamite Kid. Then The two tagged as "The British Bulldogs" and headed over to Japan. After gaining success in Japan they caught the eye of the WWF. WWF bought out Stampede Wrestling and brought Bret Hart and Jim Neidhart. The Bulldogs feuded with the Hart Foundation for quite sometime.

They then feuded with the Dream Team (Brutus Beefcake and Greg Valentine) They beat them at Wrestlemania 2 winning the Tag team Championships. They then held the titles for nearly nine months before losing them to the Hart Foundation. The Bulldogs then acquired a mascot. A bulldog named Matilda. They then had feuds with several other tag teams after Matilda being dognapped. The Bulldogs then left the WWF in 1988 due to some backstage nonsense (pranks, off air violence etc)

The British Bulldog then married Diana Hart in 1984.British Bulldog Bibliography

He returned to Stampede with Dynamite Kid in hope to revive the federation but failed. Personal issues between the Bulldogs made Davey quit and return to the WWF in 1990.

He gained mass popularity in America but in his (and mine!) home country in the UK he was an idol! Making the WWF have huge ratings on Sky Sports. So WWF decided to hold Summerslam in the Wembely Arena in London, England (I live there! No not in Wembely in London) so the Main Event: The British Bulldog vs Bret Hart for the Intercontinental Championship. In front of 80,355 Englishmen, the British Bulldog won the championship. This match has been recognised as the best match of his career. However Shawn Michaels defeat Bulldog to win the Intercontinental Championship. Then he got released by WWF because he and The Warrior were receiving shipments of Human Growth Hormone from a pharmacy in England.

So in 1993 The British Bulldog had become a father not once but twice. Diana Smith gave birth to Harry, who we all see wrestle in World Wrestling Federation, and Georgia who I have no idea what she is or does now. But apart from that Davey had a short run in World Championship Wrestling, where he challenged for the World Championship Wrestling Heavyweight Championship and having numerous feuds before returning yet again to the World Wrestling Federation. He just can't stay away can he?!

As soon as Davey returned he instantly got involved with the Hart vs Hart feud teaming with Owen Hart against Bret Hart and Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart. Tagging with people and turning heel again, gaining a WWF Championship match ,which he lost, and The British Bulldog left the WWF to jump ship back to WCW.

He started a feud with Steve McMichael who was complaining about wrestlers from "Up North". After that feud he teamed with Jim Neidhart and challenged for the WCW Tag titles but failed many times. He then suffered a knee injury and a severe back injury which nearly paralysed him. Whilst recovering, Davey received a FedEx. His WCW contract was terminated. So guess where Davey went next. Go on guess. That's right the WWF.

Davey returned to the WWF after Owen died. He was sporting the new "Attitude Era" by wearing jeans instead of his union jack tights. He also changed his theme music to a more hardcore song. He won the European Championship for the second time and lost it to Val Venis. But a few months later ad Bulldog was a champion again. He defeated Crash Holly for the Hardcore Championship. Only for Holly to regain it on Smackdown! However his last televised appearance was on Sunday Night Heat when he burst into Eddie Gurerro and Chyna's locker room. Bulldog accused Eddie of treating the European Championship with the resepect it deserved. It triggered a Championship match later that night. The resulted in a double DQ. Some commentators e.g. Jim Ross have said that Bulldog had trouble getting over the fans as most sayings amongst the WWF fans were "How many times can you repackage a guy like the British Bulldog?"

In 2000 Diana divorced from Davey and the 2 were given shared custody of their 2 children. Shortly after he entered a drug rehabilation facility at the expense of Mr McMahon. However he was released from World Wrestling Federation..... Again.British Bulldog Bibliography

We travel 2 years forward and on the 18th of May The British Bulldog died. He was on vacation in British Columbia with his girlfriend Andrea Redding. Apparently; stress, serious injuries and the use of drugs eventually took its toll on the British Superstar. So Davey Boy Smith died aged 39. However he was intending to resume his career as a week before his death he wrestled with his son Harry Smith in tag action.

So with that we conclude our trip down The British Bulldog. He was a LEGEND! Simple as. He was my dad's favourite wrestler ever. He held every single title he was eligible for apart from the World Wrestling Federation Championship. I personally think he should of had a few World Wrestling Federation Championship runs. He certainly was and still is a inspirational character for many young wrestlers. But hey that's all for this edition of the Unstoppable Report. I'm ["e;]Unstoppable["e;] JJ and you have been a great reader.
