Breast Surgery - Augmentation Or Reduction - Overview Article From Dr Lycka
Hi! This is Dr. Barry Lycka, host and founder of yourcosmeticdoctor.tv. I'm so glad to be writing articles for you about some of the newest advances in the world of beauty and cosmetic surgery. In this article I provide an overview of breast surgery, including both breast reduction and breast augmentation.
There are basically 2 groups, or types, of breast surgery.
The first group is breast augmentation, also known as breast enhancement. This is where people dont have enough breast tissue, or want some more - so an implant (or other technique) is used to add more volume - this is a breast augmentation procedure.
The second group is breast reduction. This is where people have too much breast tissue - so the tissue is removed - this is a breast reduction procedure.
And it is very important to realise that there are newer, better, safer techiques for doing these breast surgery procedures than available previously, but you must find a reputable cosmetic surgeon.
Recently I talked to one of the experts in breast augmentation and breast reduction - Dr Daryl Hoffman who works in the San Fransisco Bay Area. He shared some great information on the Inside Cosmetic Surgery Today show on webtalkradio dot net.
He talked about the difficulties in doing good cosmetic surgery, the risks of infection, the risks of people having work done improperly, and he talked about the recent breast implant problems in Europe which have caused disasters - you must be informed about these risks and information. It is very worthwhile to listen to that radio interview with Dr Daryl Hoffman as it contains a lot of indepth information on the issues surrounding breast surgery.
On the same show, I also talked in detail with Dr Susan Kolb - she is a specialist on what to do about breast implant problems, and she explained what can happen with leaking implants, and provided excellent advice on all the health risks that can happen with leaking breast implants.
