, is popularly called The city of Lakes due to the presence of numerous natural as well as artificial lakes in its confines. It was also the capital of the erstwhile Bhopal State, before the formation of Madhya Pradesh. One of the greenest cities of India, Bhopal is home to numerous industries as well as educational and research institutions.Pune is one of the most significant industrial cities located in the state of Maharashtra. Placed at the confluence of two majestic rivers, Mula and Mutha, Pune has a glorious history dating back to more than 1600 years. Bhopal (in Madhya Pradesh) and Pune (in Maharashtra) are well connected with each other by means of road, rail and air ways. The distance between both the places is around 830 km by road and the time taken to cover this distance is about 13 hrs.
Travelling by train is one of the most convenient means of reaching Pune from Bhopal. The popular trains that ply between both the cities are Goa Express (12780), Ljn Pune Exp (12104), Nzm Kop Exp (12148), Swarna Jayanthi (12782) and the Ypr S Krnti Exp (12630) among others. An added advantage of train travel is that online advance booking of tickets is possible through the website of the Indian Railways. Travelling by train is the best option if one is travelling with family consisting of elders and small children.
Apart from this air travel is also possible from Bhopal to Pune. But there are no direct flights operating between the two cities. It takes around 7 to 8 hours to reach Pune from Bhopal by air as there would be two or three stops in between. Hence the advantage of quick travel is lost. Moreover, flying from Bhopal to Pune can be costlier as well.
Another option is to hire a cab to reach Pune from Bhopal. This is also a costly affair as taxis charge to the upwards of INR 16100 for a round trip. Nevertheless it is a good option if travelling with family and friends.
Buses are another option for reaching Pune from Bhopal. There are several direct buses connecting the cities and the tickets cost starts from INR 1100. It is suitable for backpackers and lone travellers.
