Best Dogs For Children

If you have decided to make an addition to your family by getting a pet

, a dog is an excellent choice. There are, however, many things that you need to think about before deciding which dog you should get.

There are many factors to consider when selecting the right dog to have around young children. Puppies may not be the best option. While training a dog from the time it is very young may have its advantages, overall raising children and a having time to properly train a dog is difficult. Children may get bitten when a dog is at the puppy stage by a non-malicious, playful dog.

Any breed can be a great dog or a horrible dog to have around kids. It is dependant on their own individual personality and their upbringing. For example, some large dogs like Retrievers are known to be wonderful family pets. But, if they are not trained properly and aren't walked enough they can be terribly moody and destructive.

Some types of dog breeds have been named best pet for families. These types of canines come in all dog breed collar shapes and sizes. Some of these breeds are surprising and are a Doberman pinscher, Schnauzer and a Beagle. Be aware that the very most recommended family dog is from no specific breed at all. Mixed mutts are by far the most superior canines for health and attitude.

Before selecting a specific dog, you need to arrange a meeting at a park or some open place without too much stimuli to distract the dog. The dog needs to meet your children at a neutral location. By carefully watching the interaction between child and pet, you will have a better idea of what type of dog you are getting. If all goes well, you can give the dog its own dog collar and a name.

When you are meeting the new pet, your child's behavior needs to be examined too. Children's behavior can greatly affect the way that a dog behaves. Children that have not been around dogs much can have fear that can also cause a dog to be scared. Children need to learn to be confident and gentle with new animals.

There are certain traits to look for in dogs when you have children. These traits include a dog that loves to play for hours, a dog that does not get agitated, a dog that is not scared of loud noises and a dog that is overall sweet and kind.

Here's hoping that you are able to find an incredible family dog. Remember that the dog will not only have to adjust to your family, but your family will have to adjust to having a dog. Time, dog collars, food and love must be given to your new dog.
