Basic Treatment Of Cardiovascular Disease

Basic Treatment Of Cardiovascular Disease

Cardiovascular disease, as the name implies, is a disease related with the heart and blood vessels

. The disease is because of atherosclerosis, which is the hardening of the blood vessels. They are similar in the sense that they have the same causes and treatment. Based on the statistical information from different health organizations, they are one of the top causes of death among both men and women around the world.

Cardiovascular disease treatment includes many different procedures and therapies. One of the most important procedures is changing the patient's lifestyle. Living in a more healthy lifestyle will make medications more effective.

In terms of diet, the patient should eat less food with higher sodium level. It is because when the sodium level is high, the digest system will not be able to absorb the extra salt in the food. Thus, they stay in different parts of the body. When this happens, the overall salt level in the body rises. In turn, it makes the body to absorb more water and increases the blood pressure.

In order to further lower the chance of a recurring attack, it is also helpful to decrease the amount of cholesterol taken by the patient. According to nutritionists, it is recommended that the patient should only take a little bit fat or fat derivatives. These fat and fat derivatives serve as a form of fuel for the body. However, when they are taken in large amounts, the patient will run the risk of having increased blockage on the walls of the blood vessels. When these blockage piled up, blood will have difficulty to pass through the vessels. As a result, the blood pressure will tend to spike up even more. What is even worse is that, if the blockage of the vessels can not be solved immediately, it may lead to the rupture of the blood vessel.

Medications are also important factors in cardiovascular disease treatment for the patient. Aside from the antihypertensive drugs, there are also the diabetes mellitus drugs that are given to help improving the quality of care that treatment is providing the patient. It is also critical for the patient and the support group of the patient to monitor the body mass index of the patient. The patient should also be encouraged to increase the physical activity performed at home. According to several studies, a total of at least 30 minutes of exercises is recommended per day.
