Understand that there are two aspects that I deal with when a car accident patient walks through my door. The first and most important aspect, in my opinion, is the medical aspect. The second aspect, if you have a lawyer, is the legal aspect. What do I mean when I say medical aspect? What I mean is quite simple. What am I as a chiropractor going to do to make sure you get the proper care that you need in order to ensure the best chance of getting you back to pre-accident status? I have over 15 years of experience in treating injuries sustained as a result of motor vehicle accidents. I will evaluate your injuries and prescribe the proper treatment plan necessary to help achieve maximum benefits. I will help alleviate your discomfort with chiropractic treatment including, but not limited to, the chiropractic adjustment. A proper chiropractic adjustment is essential in helping to restore motion to the injured area. It is my opinion that in most cases with joint restriction, the failure to deliver a proper chiropractic adjustment will only lead to failure in obtaining optimum results.What do I mean when I say legal aspect? What I mean is treating your injuries is the medical aspect and documenting your injuries is the legal aspect. If you had severe debilitating injuries, it is important that the severity of your injuries are properly documented. It is important that what you are experiencing is in the doctors notes so that any average person can pick up the doctors notes and have a clear understanding of your injuries. If your doctor fails to document your case properly, then on paper your suffering may read differently than what you actually experienced. Now, if your severe injury appears to be not so severe because of very non descriptive documentation by your physician, well than you compensation for your injuries will be based on the non descriptive records rather than your actual condition. For example, if you come to my office and tell me you had severe neck pain for the last two days, you could not go to work because of this pain, you had to take Tylenol to help you cope with it. The neck pain is radiating into your arms. You also had a headache for the last twelve hours which caused you to vomit and the combination of this neck pain and headache has caused you to miss work and spend most of your time in bed. Rest assured, if Im treating you, all this information would be found in your notes. On the other hand, another physician that lacks the understanding and/or experience might just document in his notes headache and neck pain today. Can you see the difference? Proper documentation is the key to a better understanding of your pain and suffering.
