Steepbank and Millennium Mine, Canada, Commercial Asset Valuation and Forecast to 2026 - Steepbank and Millennium Mine is an oil sands field located 20 miles north of Fort Mc Murrey in Alberta. The oil sands found in this mine are processed to recover bitumen, which on upgradation produces Synthetic Crude oil. The Steepbank and Millennium mine covers an area of 22.5 Sq.Km, and is located near 57 north latitude, 111.5 west longitude.

The field has started its first commercial production in the year 2000. Suncor Energy, Inc is the operator of the field and owns 100% equity in the field.

Steepbank and Millennium Mine oil sands contain around 6-8 API gravity Bitumen, which is extracted and upgraded to produce around 35-39 API synthetic crude oil. The extracted Bitumen contains around 4-5 % sulphur content which is upgraded to produce light sweet synthetic crude oil.

The field has produced around 81 Million barrels of Synthetic Crude Oil in 2009. The total recoverable reserves of the field are around 2.6 Billion barrels of Synthetic crude oil out of which 1.75 Billion barrels is remaining as of December 2009. The field is expected to produce about 126 Million barrels per year by 2012 with the development of North Steepbank Extension, which is likely to be completed by the end of 2010.

The life of Steepbank and Millennium Mine is expected to be around 27 years with complete abandonement during 2026. The field is expected to generate $147 Billion in revenues (undiscounted) during its remaining life (starting 1/1/2010) and is expected to yield an IRR of around 29.96%
