A Day Trip In Barcelona

A Day Trip In Barcelona

If you fancy a day trip with a twist, why not jump on an early morning flight from London Stansted airport to the Spanish city of Barcelona

. It may sound crazy, but you can't deny being on the first flight out and the last flight back beats a day in the office. There is so much to do in Barcelona, you may struggle to fit it all in, but below are a few of the area's highlights.

Barcelona is a city full of history and culture and if it's a day's sight seeing you are after, you will be visiting the right place! The easiest and quickest way to see the main sights of Barcelona is to hop onto the tour bus. The fantastic service allows you to jump on and off the buses at different tourist attractions.

There are two tours, one that covers the north of Barcelona and one that covers the south. Sights covered by the tour include Gaudi's Sagrada Familia, Gothic Quarter Olympic Village and Barcelona football club's stadium Camp Nou. The bus service is excellent for elderly people or for those that want to minimise walking between each sights.

If you are tired after all the sight seeing why not relax on one of Barcelona's golden beaches. There are 4.2km of sandy beaches just 10 minutes from the city centre. The beach offers a range of activities including windsurfing, kite surfing and of course swimming.

Whatever you do with your time in Barcelona, make sure you walk along La Rambla. A street in the centre of Barcelona's old city, La Rambla is one of Barcelona's best known landmarks. The street meanders from Pl. de Catalunya to the Columbus statue and is filled with newspaper kiosks, animal and flower stalls and a range of artists. The street is often full of tourists and locals alike as it offers lots of small restaurants and bars, where you can have a traditional meal and pleasant evening, before you catch your late flight home.
