5 Ways Not To Get Caught Out On Holiday

5 Ways Not To Get Caught Out On Holiday

Nobody likes losing their underwear, getting sunburned

, being sick, missing out, losing money or generally embarrassing themselves and especially when they are on holiday. So here is a short list of tips to try and help you avoid all of the above when abroad.

1) BUY SWIM WEAR THAT ACTUALLY FITS

It's happened to the best of us - you might dive over exuberantly into the swimming pool or maybe you didn't expect the wave to be 'that' big - but we've all lost our swimming costumes/trunks to the water and there's nothing worse than having to bare all, running for your towel and a big dollop of shame smelling sun cream after its happened. Don't worry, there is a solution to this problem - just buy trunks/bikinis that actually fit so they tie tight around your waist, hold your boobs in nicely and don't ride up so high they leave little to the imagination.

2) MAKE SURE YOU HAVE AT LEAST A BASIC GRASP OF THE COUNTRIES LANGUAGE AND DON'T RELY ON PHRASES YOUR "MATES" HAVE TOLD YOU:5 Ways Not To Get Caught Out On Holiday

It is possible to get into a variety of embarrassing situations if you don't know the basics in the appropriate foreign language. It's always advisable to buy a phrase book of some sort rather than relying on the "useful everyday phrases" that your bilingual or overly helpful friends offer you - which usually turn out to be hideous swear words or sentences with some form of sexual connotation - which will either land you beaten up or telling an attractive female that you are, in fact, an octopus.

3) CHECK YOUR PASSPORT

There is nothing worse than realising three hours before your flight that your passport is, in fact, out of date and that you won't be able to go on the holiday you've been waiting for, for at least 5months of long exhausting and mind numbing work. Or... you will be able to go on holiday but you will have to fork out hundreds of pounds and travel up to London to get your passport renewed and then pay extra money for different flights out so you can finally enjoy your holiday... NO THANKS! Please make sure you check that your passport is not out of date... because it is a royal pain in the arse if it is.

4) TAKE THE NECESSARY MEDICAL SUPPLIES

English people in foreign countries are known for picking up every disease known to man, burning like lobsters, being bitten like no one's business and just generally being a bit of a mess - so it's good to be prepared. Take enough sun cream, stock up on mosquito repellent and Anthisan (or a cheaper equivalent) make sure you follow instructions about water and be careful what you eat.

5) DO NOT BE FLEECED AND REMEMBER TO BOOK YOUR AIRPORT PARKING ONLINE

This may seem like an obvious one to some of you, but you'd be surprised how many people don't realise you can book airport parking online and that you don't have to just turn up at the airport and pay ridiculous amounts of money to leave your car on a fenced bit of tarmac for a couple of weeks. Have a good look around online and you will find some seriously cheap offers leaving you some spare money to spend on those essential, if fake, designer sunnies.
