Why Lost Is Not A Good Message To Send About Air Travel
Lost is not the ideal film to show on an airplane
. I would not be surprized if the movie never comes to the in flight entertainment systems due to the way it deals with aviation and high-profile aviation.At its heart, Lost is not a series about an island. It is not a series about the relationship between good and evil, and their constant battle. It is not a show that's about giant polar bears and the experiments of the Dharma Initiative on a mysterious island that has strange powers. It isn't even about each individual character that has been brought to the island. The series is actually about one single thing, and something you'll never want to see when you are flying through the air. Lost is about an air crash.
Lost is about an air crash that killed dozens of people. Only a few people survived. We later find out that more passengers than we thought actually survived the plane crash and that not so many died in the initial crash. But watch the first episode and you'll see a plane crash violently after encountering a little turbulence. It shouldn't worry passengers on flights from Seattle to Fresno where pilots will always be able to divert to a nearby airfield if anything out of the ordinary happens. But the first episode shows burning wreckage, and some horrific injuries from a plane crash.
The fact that so many people survived the crazy plane crash is also another thing that many airlines may understand to be a misnomer. When aircraft crash into the sea, there isn't usually an island that pops up. Flights from Denver to Los Angeles and flights from New York to Moscow would be best off if they simply cut off the whole aircraft crash thing from their in flight entertainment systems in my opinion.
