As the owner of a yacht or any other type of boat

, you know that you need to have some sort of window treatments in the cabin. Without them, the cabin will not be the dark and relaxing place that you need it to be when you are staying on the boat overnight. You do not want to have to get off of the boat and find a hotel at each port just because the cabin is not dark enough to allow you to sleep. This is exactly what will happen if you do not put in some window treatments, though, and you should consider curtains before any other styles.

The main disadvantage to using blinds is that they move around too much. These might be ideal for a home, but a home has a sturdy foundation. A boat does not enjoy this luxury. It will rock on the waves and it will move in the wind. The blinds will swing with this movement, causing them to collide with the wall of the boat. This may not sound like a large problem, but it can keep you from getting any sleep. The plastic hitting against plastic will be a continual noise that will keep you wide awake.

When you hang up curtain poles with cloth curtains, you get around this problem. The cloth is ideal because it makes no noise whatsoever. You will be able to keep out even more light - dark cloth will hold this light out much better than the cheap white plastic that makes up most blinds - and so you will not be bothered in any way. This is ideal for those who want to take long trips on their boat or those who make a living by carrying passengers on overnight voyages.

Another benefit to using curtains is that they will look nice. You can get ornate curtain poles that will fit in with the beautiful look of your boat. You can choose wooden ones if your boat has wood trim, or you can choose plastic or metal rods if those will match better. The choice is entirely up to you, as different styles look better on different boats. No matter what the boat looks like, though, you can be sure that the curtains themselves will look better. They will look more expensive and fashionable to anyone who goes below the deck.

Finally, these are very convenient just because they are so easy for passengers to use. The curtain poles allow them to draw the curtains across to whatever amount they desire. They can pull them back and look out without waking other passengers if they wake up early and they want to see the sunrise. When you open blinds, you have to open them from the bottom up. This means that more light gets through and it is hard to block. You can simply move a corner of the curtain over and look out, keeping your body in between the light and the other people.
