Travel The World Without Leaving Your Barstool

Travel The World Without Leaving Your Barstool

Any bartender offers patrons the opportunity to step out of the traditional beverage and into a world unknown

. Patrons can travel to Germany from their very barstool to Germany through the delicious tastes of the world's oldest beer. One might think of Russia as they sip on their vodka cocktail. Persons are even known to speak a little Spanish after a few too many shots of tequila. The combination of some of the greatest drinks on the planet can deliver the patron to even farther and greater heights.

One can travel the old world in an easy, traditional Moscow Mule. This drink simply requires a little vodka on ice with sugar syrup, ginger beer and lime juice, and the ever popular lime and mint garnish. A few of these tasty treats might sneak up on you and before you know it, you're riding your barstool shouting "Giddyup Mule!" and your throat feels like Chernobyl. Perhaps it may take more than a few but the Moscow Mule never disappoints.

One might believe that the Moscow Mule was the invention of thirsty Russian with a creative idea. This couldn't be any more far from the truth. The roots of ginger beer and the Moscow Mule can be traced to Manhattan and the bustling area of the "Little Moscow" booming inside the Chatham Hotel. The drink was then popularized by John G. Martin and John "Jack" Morgan. Martin was an employee of a food and alcohol distributor and Morgan was the owner of Cock'n'Bull Tavern in Los Angeles. This establishment was frequented by many notable famous persons and required the attention of creative drinks to lure those artistic characters. What better than the culmination of an explosion of tastes and a combination of beer and vodka in one drink?

This drink grew in popularity and spread wildly. It was the new favorite of Hollywood stars and in this country, everyone wants to be just like the stars. Any person can walk into any bar in the country today and ask for a Moscow Mule and the bartender will have it whipped up in no time. Oprah calls it "perfect for you next camping trip" and the drink has been featured on every cocktail website and journal you can imagine. It's fun and easy and the tastes are so complimentary that it's practically heaven in a glass.

Since the craze began, the Moscow Mule has changed the face of cocktail hour for eternity. Any average Joe can order and sip a Gin and Tonic or a Long Island Iced Tea but only the courageous cowboys can hang with the excitement of flavor in the Moscow Mule. Delicious and fun, a simple drink can begin your exciting journey without ever moving from your seat.
