National Conservation Strategy and Tourism Policy is a government ministry which was formed to protect wildlife and promote tourism.

The income received from the tourism industry has helped to diversify Botswana's economy from traditional sources such as diamond and beef. This has greatly brought development and creation of over twenty three thousand job opportunities. However, tourism in this country is still lagging behind due to challenges such as lack of modern technology, poor hygiene standards, poor infrastructure, poor communication and tourist confrontation. It is extremely important to have yellow fever and cholera immunization especially if you are from infected regions to avoid infecting other people. Visitors are expected to produce a visa on arrival to the country. However, exceptions are given to those from the Commonwealth Countries, South African, United States and most European Countries.
