, steadiness, loyalty, steadfastness, soundness etc. But how many of you have understood the comprehensive meaning of this word DEPENDABILITY? If you could make yourself understand the meaning of this particular word and work on this ability consistently, you would be labeled as an ACHIEVER. Perhaps the most important ability in the world of work is depend-ability. Nothing will get you paid and promoted faster to higher positions than to develop a reputation for getting your tasks done quickly, well, and on schedule. This is one of the most important characteristic features of a DEPENDABLE WORKER in this world of uncertainty & competition. In order to get the title of DEPENDABILITY, you need to follow a certain process. The process is extremely simple to understand and implement but the majority of the employees do not apply this as it does not occur to them. Whatever your objectives are, make a list of all the tasks that will have to accomplish in the achievement of those objectives. Put a deadline on every one of those tasks which you have listed down. Then work every day and every hour to hit your deadlines with a complete focus. Measure your progress each and every day. Speed up or slow down wherever necessary. Please remember, you cant hit a target that you cant see. The greater clarity that you have with regards to deadlines and measures, the more you will accomplish and the faster you will get it done. A decision without a deadline is merely a discussion. It has no energy behind it. It is like a bullet with no powder in the cartridge. Unless you establish deadlines to which you are committed, you will end up firing blanks in life and work. A deadline propels you forward to act & your action continues till such time your purpose is not achieved. In other words, having chosen where you want to go, you must have the ability to make continual course correction like a plane which is usually off course 99 percent of the time until you arrive at your destination. You might wonder what if some people ask, What if I set a deadline and I dont achieve the goal by the deadline? It is extremely simple. Set another deadline and then another, if necessary. Deadlines are best-guess estimates of when a task will be completed. The more you set and work towards deadlines, the more accurate you will become in predicting the time necessary to complete them. You will become better and better at achieving your objectives and completing your tasks on schedule every time. The one inevitability in your life is recurring crisis. If you are leading a busy life, you will encounter crisis from time to time. In between these unavoidable crisis will be a continuous succession of problems, difficulties & obstacles staring at your face. And the more objectives that you attempt to reach, the bigger your dreams, and the more determined you are to complete your work on schedule well, the more problems and crisis you would experience. The only factor you can control is how you will respond to those difficulties and setbacks. And the good news is that every time you respond in a positive and constructive manner, you become stronger and better and even more capable of dealing with the next problem or crisis that comes along. Eventually, you will reach a point in life where you become absolutely unstoppable. Finally you will become like a force of nature. You will be irresistible. You will become the kind of person who never quits, no matter what the difficulty. No matter what obstacle is put in your path, you will find a way to go over it, under it, around it. You will not be termed as dependable but would be considered as an extraordinary. You will only know what does extraordinary mean? Although being ordinary, you have been completing your objectives by continuously & ceaselessly putting efforts by meeting deadlines. THIS AUTOMATICALLY GIVES YOU A TITLE OF YOU BEING THE MOST DEPENDABLE & EXTRAORDINARY EMPLOYEE IN YOUR PLACE OF WORK.
