The Correlation Between Snoring And Adhd Among Children

The Correlation Between Snoring And Adhd Among Children

Snoring is not only a nuisance; it is also an indicant of a disease

. Among adults, a thundering snore coupled with unreasonable drowsiness during the day and of lack of concentration can indicate symptoms for unobtrusive sleep apnea, which is a condition that calls for sleep therapy or sometimes, operation.

The self-help way to address snoring is to sleep on one's side, keep off intake of alcohol close to bed time, and also to relax and de-stress. If these do not make the snoring go away, then grownups can see a doctor for diagnosis on lifestyle related diseases such as high blood pressure.

Young children snore, too, and in a loud pestering way. This is particularly the case for kids who are heavy, or those with heavy nose and air passage. When a child snores, parents should pay attention. This may be indicative of a nose or throat trouble, or both. The sound produced when snoring is a result of air passing through loosened tissues while at sleep, thus producing a trembling which then makes the sound. Sometimes, a child snores and coughs or gasps for breath. This causes sleeplessness at night, and the child can become asleep and lacking the vigour for school and other activities during the day.

Apart from considering a pediatrician for possible sleep apnea among kids, you can take your child to a nose and throat doctor, too, to check for inflamed tonsils. Also, some kids are born with big tonsils and long soft palate which can narrow the airways and increase the possibility of a snore. A congested nose can also lead to snoring among children.

Parents who observe that their child is snoring may bring him to a nose and throat doctor for an inspection of the tonsils and the soft palate. In cases where the tonsils are too large and the soft palate too long, ensuing in a narrow airway, then surgical process may be needed. Dieting may also be suggested, if the snoring is connected to obesity. Worse, seeing a pedia may be requisite to cure a possible sleep apnea. Further sleep apnea ramifications may include attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder or ADHD.
