Teeth Whitening Procedures

Who doesn't love a set of spotless, white teeth? Our teeth can often be a source of charm and attractiveness. Everyone, even residents of Lexington, knows how important it is to keep them white and clean. One way of doing this is by having a teeth bleaching procedure. Teeth bleaching or teeth whitening is a process by which the color of one's teeth is altered to make them whiter.

Obviously, this procedure is for cosmetic purposes. It is done to improve a person's physical appearance or presentation. There are many ways of doing this dental procedure, one of which is applying teeth whitening strips. A teeth whitening strip or bleaching strip is composed of hydrogen peroxide, which also serves as the bleaching agent for the teeth. These strips vary in concentration and are to be applied twice a day. The strips are pushed against the teeth and are allowed to stay there for at least 30 minutes in order for the bleaching to take effect.

Another teeth whitening process which is also pretty common is laser bleaching. This procedure is done in a dental clinic. In laser bleaching, a gel is applied on the surface of the teeth before a laser is concentrated to stimulate the gel. The gel wipes out the stains on the tooth and for just a couple of minutes, your teeth would be sparkling white. This method is one of the fastest teeth bleaching procedures.

Another alternative for teeth whitening is the application of dentist veneers. Lexington has several dentists who are experts in this process. Composite and dental porcelain are the two types of dental veneers. These are thin materials that coat one's teeth for either improvement of tooth protection, or aesthetic purposes.

Crowning is another alternative for teeth whitening. This procedure can also be considered as a dental repair. Once crowning is put in place, it would take a couple of days or even a week to finish. However, there are one visit crowns (Lexington) which are offered for faster accomplishment.

One visit crowns (Lexington) refers to a faster way of crowning. Crowning is the process by which the damaged or affected tooth is covered by a material such as porcelain or alloy.
