St Patricks Day 2011 in London

St Patricks Day 2011 in London

London will be awash with green and the good craic of Ireland as people from all over the world come to celebrate St Patrick Day 2011 in London. There is a parade and party planned in Trafalgar Square on Sunday 13th March 2011 where there will be Irish Music, performances, food and general good times. This will be a great fun event for all ages and is a good way to embrace Paddies Day in London.

I prefer to pay homage to Saint Patrick by doing what the Irish do best, and that is raising a glass of the black stuff! Ireland is a country known for its great sense of humour and its love of a good drink, so best to find yourself a good old Irish Pub celebrating in true style with a pint of Guinness! St Patricks Day is on Thursday 17th March 2011 so I am planning on heading out to a plethora of Irish dedicated parties and pubs in London. Likely to be one of the liveliest pubs in London is The Toucan in Soho. This pubs pay homage to Ireland's finest export, Guinness, with advertising through the years of this iconic brand and a fantastic range of drinks. The bar staff are up for the craic and the patrons never fail to spill out onto the pavement outside which helps to create a lively and buzzy atmosphere.

Perhaps if you are out at the St Patricks Day parade and party in Trafalgar square and in need of refreshment, the perfect bar in London could be Waxy O'Connor's located close to Piccadilly Circus. This is a unique bar with 250ft Tree shipped all the way from the Emerald Isle and will be having Irish music to keep the party going. Of course there is always the good old Irish themed pub, O'Neill's, which is prevalent across the capital. Head up to Carnaby Street where you will find your standard Irish pub food and drinks. There are also O'Neill's pubs in Clapham, Earl's Court, Soho and Covent Garden so wherever you are in London, there is always a pub close by!

If you are further east then how about a toast to Paddy's day in the raucous Filthy McNasty's bar in The City. This is a true Dublin style Irish bar that will be packed to the rafters with drinkers looking to celebrate to the sun comes up! If you want to avoid the standard Irish Pubs in London then you might be tempted to head to Jerusalem bar in Fitzrovia which is putting on a U2 tribute night! The sounds of The Joshua Tree and all their old classics could be the perfect way to enjoy St Patricks Day in London. My final recommendation for St Patricks Day 2011 is to head to Bentley's Oyster Bar in Mayfair. The head chef Richard Corrigan will be devising a St Patricks Day inspired menu with delicious Irish dishes to accompany all those lovely Irish tipples. Bentley's put on a very special celebration every year and is definitely worth checking out.
