Spotlight on North Asheville, Woodfin and Weaverville: Asheville NC Real Estate by:Nora Hall

The Magic of Asheville and the North Carolina Mountains

The city of Asheville may be smaller than some metropolitan areas, however, just like larger cities such as Atlanta, New York City, San Francisco and Seattle, Asheville can be separated into various sections, each with its own exciting advantages. North Asheville has always been a popular section of the city. Since the heyday of the Vanderbilt family in the 1920's, North Asheville has been a place for artists, professionals, socialites, writers, and celebrities to congregate and live life to the fullest. One of the most famous examples of this is the internationally known Grove Park Inn.

Perks to Buying Property in North Asheville

University of North Carolina - Asheville (UNCA)Spotlight on North Asheville, Woodfin and Weaverville: Asheville NC Real Estate by:Nora Hall

One of North Asheville's greatest perks is its close proximity to UNCA, a fantastic university located in the heart of Asheville. UNCA is a great school and one of the main venues in Asheville for music and arts events during the year. In warmer weather, concerts happen both in the university's many auditoriums and outdoors. There are many trails and paths to explore on the campus, as well as the exquisite mountain views to behold.

Botanical Gardens and Greenway Development

Located on the edge of the UNCA campus, the Asheville Botanical Garden is a special sanctuary in the midst of North Asheville. Wandering the Botanical Garden grounds allows you learn about native plants, as well as to enjoy the sounds of birds, insects and the creek. Have a picnic in the meadow or visit the gazebo. There are flowers, trees and herbs of all kinds to explore. In addition Asheville is currently in the process of finishing a greenway that runs from UNCA and the Botanical Garden all the way to the heart of downtown. Bike, jog or walk the paths along the edge of the historic Montford neighborhood. Leaving vehicles at home will be a more inviting option for students and other local residents once the greenway is built.

Merrimon Avenue Provides Convenient Shopping and Restaurants

Merrimon Avenue is the main thoroughfare in North Asheville and is home to many shops, restaurants, retail stores, pharmacies and more. A post office, multiple grocery stores, the Asheville Pizza and Brew Company (a staple of the area) and much more can be found within just a couple of miles of downtown. Everything from McDonald's to sushi to Mexican cuisine or Southern style home cooking can be found on Merrimon.

Beaverdam Lake Neightborhood

Travel North towards the small community of Woodfin and you will pass Beaverdam Lake. The Beaverdam neighborhood is a picturesque community located along the edge of the lake. Canoeing, all walking trails, and the bird sanctuary nestled at the Southern most point of the lake are all available to residents. During the warmer months local residents can be seen boating, jogging, walking and enjoying the mountain weather with family, friends and pets. An exciting new addition to the neighborhood, just up the road from Beaverdam Lake, is the new YMCA, built at the base of the Reynold's Mountain community. This new facility helps residents in North Asheville avoid traffic and save time.

Real Estate and Economic Development in Woodfin

Woodfin is a small township located just North of Asheville and just South of Weaverville. Over the last five years Woodfin has started to grow. New businesses have opened up and consistently more affordable real estate prices have made it a destination for first time homebuyers. In the next decade the township of Woodfin plans to complete major residential and commercial developments. Woodfin is on its way to becoming a beautiful, inviting community that attracts professionals, families and new homebuyers relocating to the Asheville area.

Weaverville NC: A Quaint, Close-Knit Community Just 10 Minutes from Downtown AshevilleSpotlight on North Asheville, Woodfin and Weaverville: Asheville NC Real Estate by:Nora Hall

Just North of Asheville, only 3 exits on the highway, is Weaverville, a small town with a great reputation for a tight-knit community, incredible local arts, delicious local restaurants and unique retail stores. If you'd like a snapshot of what Asheville once was, Downtown Weaverville is worth a visit. Main Street is home to multiple local businesses and makes you feel like you are in a simple, rural, mountain village. Easy access to the highway makes commuting to work simple and close proximity to Walmart, Lowes, grocery stores and other retail outlets make it convenient to stay local.

North Asheville is just one section of this fair mountain city. East, South and West Asheville also offer unique advantages for potential homebuyers and have their own rich history. Be sure to hire a real estate agent that can show you all areas of the city and help you make the best real estate decision for your lifestyle.
