If you have children of your own, are you just dieing to get them out in their cute little costumes? Even if the celebration is just for you, it is time to think about some Halloween costume ideas.The only problem with getting dressed up for the festivities is that kids, both young and old, may not have much money to spend on a good outfit. Well, money will never be a problem if you just put a little bit of energy into your imagination and take a look around the house to see what you can use. And making your own costumes is way more fun than buying some polyester and plastic stuff that looks so silly.
Think about how cool the classic ghost costume is. It is a ready to wear sheet and that is about it! And you can cut in extra eyeholes all over the sheet for the very cool Charlie Brown look for big chuckles from those who still remember. And talk about cheap, you can find an old white sheet pretty much anywhere for the special night.
Here is another one that uses old clothes and little else: the hobo or tramp. Anyone can pull this off, as sizes and styles count for nothing here. All you need is the oldest, grubbiest, most pathetic looking clothes you can find. Surely you have something in the closet that you should have thrown away years ago, right? This is what you use. Then tie a rag or something on a stick for the tramp look, and off you go for the candy.
And still more uses for those old clothes are going for the retro look. We all can usually dig up something that will help turn a kid, or ourselves, into an iconic symbol of another age. Or you can go for a biker thing, a rock star, a celebrity, or whatever you used to look like when you were young. The kids always get a kick out of wearing what the parents used to wear when they were kids, too.
And kids like to dress up as sports figures, too, right? If you used to play a sport, or were a cheerleader, and still have the old uniforms, the little ones will love putting them on for the night. If they are too big you can do wonder with safety pins and duct tape, and you can be ready to go out for almost no cost at all.
As you can see, Halloween costume ideas are all around you, and they do not have to cost you a dime. Besides, most of the real fun at this time of the year is in the getting ready to go out. All of the candy is just a bonus to the fun in preparation. So even if money is an issue, you can have fun with the kids, and with the kid inside of you, too.
