Sightseeing In Brussels

The historic capital city of Brussels in Belgium is a great place to visit on holiday

, with many attractions for the tourist. Here are a few things that you will not want to miss while you are over there.

During the summer months, the town square and the surrounding buildings are illuminated at night to the rhythms of classical music. It only happens for around fifteen minutes per night, but it is quite a spectacle, so it is worth finding out when these sessions are.

The Bruparck, near the Heysel metro stop, is a reconstructed Belgian village complete with traditional restaurants and cafes. There is also an indoor beach at the OceadeOceade swimming complex, and the Kinepolis, one of the biggest cinemas in Europe.

If you get off at the Heysel Metro stop, you can visit Mini Europe, which is a recreation of all the major monuments of the European Union in miniature form, such as the Houses of Parliament, Brandenburg gate and the Eiffel Tower. While there, you can also visit the Atomium, the site of the 1958 Brussels world fair.

Belgium is famous for its beers, and there is nowhere better to try them out than in the Toone Theatre, a pub dating back to 1696. There is also a puppet theatre on the first floor where marionettes perform operas and Belgian folk tales.

Fans of Tintin should make a bee line for the Belgian Comic Strip centre. Here you can find many original artworks by Herge and other Belgian comic artists in a delightful Art Nouveau setting, and visit the shop which has many books and comic related gadgets.

If you like dinosaur skeletons, you will love the Brussels Museum of Natural Sciences, as it features an exhibit known as the Iguanodons of Bernissart, a collection of Dinosaur skeletons that were discovered in Belgium in the 1800s.

If you are booking flights to Belgium, do not forget to book some transport to and from the airport. At the moment, Easybus are offering some great deals on airport transfers if you book in advance.
