By now everybody knows that social media - especially Facebook - is a cultural phenomenon that is growing at an astonishing pace. But small business owners continue to wonder, "Can I really make any money with social media? And NOT waste a ton of time doing it?" The answer is most emphatically "Yes!" But if you're a small business owner who's not seeing results from your social media, then you're most likely making one of the 20 mistakes we've identified as being the most common. Your customers need to see you as a person, NOT as simply an advertiser. It's all about rapport. If your customers know you, like you and trust you, it's the easiest thing in the world for them to ultimately buy from you! All you need to do is put an offer in front of them that makes sense, and they're now a buyer. On the other hand, if they don't already know you, if they don't yet have any reason to trust you, if they haven't already decided that they like you - then you have to do all of THAT work first, every time you try to get them to buy something. Social media is a 24/7 rapport-building machine, if you let it be. What do you think all those "meaningless" tweets about your kids and your upcoming 5K and your favorite take-out chinese place are all about? They show your human side ... so your customers can know you! And if you're likable (and you are likable, right?) they will also begin to LIKE you. So don't make the mistake of eliminating the personal stuff from your profiles. You'll defeat the whole purpose of what social media can do for you. About the Author:
