Seven Wonders Of The Medieval World

The wonders of the world are divided according to the three different ages which are Ancient

, Medieval and Modern respectively. This article talks about the Seven Wonders of the medieval era.

1. Stonehenge

There are many big long-cut stones which have been arranged in the most extraordinary pattern, the reason behind arranging the stone in this pattern is subject to much speculation and study.

2. The Colosseum

The Colosseum is heart located in the of Rome city. This colossal structure speaks at a stretch about the glorious past of The Roman Empire. This empire boldly faced the numerous hardships which came into its way and which later resulted in the demise of the Roman Empire.

3. The Catacombs of Kom el Shoqafa

Catacombs of Kom el Shoqafa are the funeral halls which are cut in rock. One of the special features of Catacombs is that it consists of the galleries for the dead one and there are places where the death rites can be conducted. All the structure including the staircases and dining halls are carved in rock.

4. The Great Wall of China

The construction of this wall took place between 5th and 16th century. Ming Dynasty got the wall constructed and it took 11 long centuries for the completion of the wall. Numerous dynasties and kings added to this huge monument. The wall which stands tall today is the last in the series of additions made to this monument by several dynasties.

5. The Porcelain Tower of Nanjing

The Porcelain Tower which is also known as Buddhist Pagoda is no more in existence. This tower is said to radiate sunrays and it was also used as a hub of pilgrimage. This Buddhist Pagoda was said to be constructed by Yung le a Chinese Emperor who lived during the 15th century.

6. The Hagia Sophia

Aya Sofya is the most striking monument located in Istanbul, Turkey. Aya Sofya is no more in existence with the course of time Aya Sofya burned down and was reduced to ashes, it collapsed down in earth quakes.

7. The Leaning Tower of Pisa

The renowned Tower of Pisa was constructed many years ago. This monument which was made to stand straight actually leaned a bit for all its life. This leaning feature of the tower gave it a new identity and thus it became famous in Pisa and also all around the world .
