Port Louis Mauritius: Well worth the trip

Port Louis Mauritius: Well worth the trip

Port Louis Mauritius: Well worth the trip

As the capital city of Mauritius with a working harbour and central market, Port Louis is a bustling metropolis buzzing with people, traffic and cargo ships; making the atmosphere vibrant and lively as locals and visitors explore the city while local businessmen and market traders.

Any visit to Port Louis should include a spot of shopping at the local Bazaar (market). Renovated in 2004 the market promises to take you on a visual and aromatic tour of Asia, Africa and India. Host to hundreds of small stalls and shops the Bazaar sells countless tantalizing spices, fragrances and souvenirs, usually at bargain prices! Fresh fruit, fish and meat are also in abundance as locals often shop here on a daily basis.

Surrounding the Bazaar in the old-town of Port Louis are small shopping streets filled with boutique fashion shops and the Chinatown area is packed with authentic Chinese shops and small restaurants serving delicious traditional Chinese food.

Towards the coast, the new Caudan Waterfront is a busy hub of tourists enjoying the modern shops, restaurants, bars and casino. This area is a main tourist attraction and further development is promised, making Port Louis into a diverse, cultural, 21s Century city. Mauritius is also a duty free country so shopping here is quite tempting!

In terms of cultural sightseeing the historical Jummah Mosque, built in 1853 offers spectacular architecture and traditional decorations. Opening times for visitors vary so check with your hotel before visiting. Also, the Government House is one of the oldest buildings in Port Louis but is still visually impressive.

Signal Mountain overlooks Port Louis and great panoramic views can be gained if you fancy hiking up to the 323 metre high summit. I blogged the other day about the Labourdonnais Orchards which is another great day trip where you can cycle or walk amongst the pathways of a pristime orchard filled with fresh flowers and the scents of various exotic fruits.

Port Louis doesn't offer that kind of vibe but it does lend an appeal all to itself and it most certainly will add another dimension to how you view Mauritius.

That's all from me right now. Happy holidays or if you're in the US, Happy Vacation!
# 2 I recently tried cbd+thc gummies in search the pre-eminent leisure and was pleasantly surprised next to the results. Initially skeptical, I found that it significantly helped with my desire and doze issues without any noticeable side effects. The grease was effortless to speak, with clear dosage instructions. It had a merciful, vulgar grain that was not unpleasant. Within a week, I noticed a decided convalescence in my total well-being, ardour more serene and rested. I know the unstudied technique to wellness CBD offers and representation to continue using it.   2024-2-20 08:27  reply
