One Hanson Place - The Mecca Of Orthodontics In Brooklyn NY
It is arguably the most recognizable structure in all of Brooklyn. It has been described as "New York's most phallic symbol." It is 37 stories and over 500 feet tall. We're talking of course, about One Hanson Place. Also known as the Williamsburgh Savings Bank Tower, One Hanson Place is located by the Atlantic Avenue subway/Long Island Railroad Station. Designed by the architectural form Halsey, McCormack and Helmer, One Hanson Place is described as a modern version of the Byzantine Romanesque architectural style. However, despite its roots in American banking, One Hanson Place is most closely associated with dentistry and NY orthodontists. The number of dentists and NY orthodontists located at One Hanson Place was so noticeable and well-known, in fact, that the New York Daily News once dubbed it "The Mecca of Dentistry." While the number of dentists and NY orthodontists has reduced over the years (Former NBA star Magic Johnson bought a portion of the building and has been building luxury condos), it is still extraordinarily likely that if you're going to get Orthodontics in Brooklyn, One Hanson Place is where you're headed. However, the home of many Orthodontics in Brooklyn NY was recently dwarfed by the new 51-story rental tower "The Brooklyner," which is located at 11 Lawrence Street. The Brooklyner is a whopping two feet bigger than the iconic One Hanson Place building, making it now the second largest building in the borough. That being said, One Hanson Place may soon be looking at a bronze medal; The Brooklyn Eagle has reported plans for a 58-story residential tower on Willoughby Street has been proposed. Recent estimates say this new residential tower would be approximately 85-feet higher than One Hanson Place.
