There are many reasons why people decide to make trips to stay in hotels in London.

In some cases, it may be to get away from the pressure of everyday life and sample a new city, while others head there to make the most of the high-quality cuisine on offer.

A third reason why consumers flock to London hotels is to check out the offerings of the West End.

With this in mind, some people may be keen to see a theatrical offering based on the classic book The Railway Children.

The Waterloo Station Theatre is showing the creation until January 2nd next year, meaning many of those staying in hotels in London could combine seeing the show with festive celebrations.

According to a review of the production by Sam Marlowe from Time Out, the play may be well worth a look.

He described it as a "theatrical event with real cross-generational appeal".

The critic added: "It's witty without being arch, charming but not twee, and it tempers its nostalgia with surprisingly steely political conviction."

He went on to state: "E Nesbit's classic Edwardian story about Roberta, Peter, Phyllis and their mother, who move to the Yorkshire countryside after their father is mysteriously whisked away by police from their comfortable home in the London suburbs, offers heart-wrenching family drama from a child's eye view."

Mr Marlowe also noted that the action is underpinned by the sounds of the Waterloo commuter trains, adding a whole new dimension to the experience.

Also the original steam engine from the 1970 film version makes two "exhilarating, climactic appearances".

Of course, those staying in London hotels to see the theatrical piece can also engage in other activities to make the most of their trips. They may want to engage in some retail therapy, check out the museums or sightsee.
