It is an amazing astronomical observatory, built by Sawai Jai Singh in 1718, who was also the founder of the city. Situated on a sandstone hilltop, on the outskirts of city, Amber Fort built in red sandstone and white marble, displays a fine blend of Mughal and Rajput architecture. Its construction was started by Raja Man Singh in 16th century AD, but was eventually completed by Sawai Jai Singh in the 18th century.
