Create a summer holiday by caravanning from the Central Coast to the Sparkling Gold Coast
If you want to create a summer holiday experience that you will never forget, you may want to take the opportunity to explore the coastal pleasures that Australia has to offer. Long hailed as the home of the Gold Coast, most people do not realise just how expansive and fun the Australian coast can be until they actually get out there and travel along it. This is why taking a caravan trip from the Central Coast up north to the sparkling Gold Coast can be so much fun.
The Central Coast is located around Newcastle, which will allow you plenty of options to begin with such as the chance to take a swim along Bar Beach, or the opportunity to sample wine at some of the best wineries in the country. The Central Coast area boasts more than 120 different wineries and many have their own signature tastes. While planning your holiday, make sure to try Lovedale's for a great selection of wines to take home with you - and Nightingale wines, located along Milbrodale Road, for some great locally-grown wine.
You may want to plan to stay the night in Newcastle on your first day out, because outside of the many wineries in the area to tempt you there are also some great attractions. The nearby village of Pokolbin offers hot air balloon rides so that you can see the vineyards in a much more comprehensive fashion. Or, you can choose to head into the Yengo National Park and check out the many trails that will lead you past waterfalls, cliffs, and rainforests. As a nice perk, there are plenty of small historical villages such as Broke, Lovedale, or Wollombi that offer you great places to park your caravan and explore for the night.
When you are ready to leave you will need to head towards the Hunter Valley, where you will find 26 beaches waiting for you - and the Nelson Head Lighthouse, which is worth climbing just to look out over the area and watch the dolphins play in Nelson Bay. You can take a cruise here as well or keep heading on to Coffs Harbour where you will find more beaches, scuba diving, and a rainforest that contains dormant volcano peaks that are awe-inspiring to take in. The area also boosts fishing, sun tanning, and plenty of caravan parks to stay in.
From Coffs Harbour you will then continue north towards Byron Bay, which offers the Solitary Islands Marine Park - a great place to pick up some fresh fish, or actively fish for your own. Make sure to walk or drive along the Clarence River so you can see the dolphins as you head into the Gold Coast area. While this is the final destination of your holiday trip, you can easily spend a few days in the area as it offers plenty of trails, the option to take a train through the Glenreagh Mountains, and plenty of other great attractions such as Movie World or Sea World.
