Chiang Mai Highly Ranked On Tripadvisors Travellers Choice Destinations 2012
TripAdvisors annual list of Travellers Choice Destinations was just released
, with Thailands Rose of the North Chiang Mai securing an excellent position as well as high praise. Globally, Chiang Mai made the Top 25, weighing in at number 24; among ASEAN nations, the only other city to make this list was Siem Reap, home to World Heritage Site Angkor Wat.TripAdvisor and its network of sites and affiliates constitute the worlds largest travel community, thereby bestowing great prestige on their annual list. More than 50 million monthly visitors, and over 60 million reviews and opinions can hardly be wrong: these users are among the throngs of travelers visiting the worlds most attractive, desirable, and interesting cities. The awards are based on the popularity of these cities, according to users comments, reviews, and favorites.
TripAdvisor spokesperson Jean Ow-Yeong noted that "whether travellers are looking for a grand annual vacation or a quick weekend getaway, they can be inspired by hundreds of incredible travel destinations as identified by TripAdvisor's community of travellers."
TripAdvisor now operates sites in some 30 countries, including in China as daodao.com. For tourism industry professionals, they run a dedicated division providing access to their millions of monthly visitors.

TripAdvisor visitors to Chiang Mai noted that the city and her environs offer the fortunate traveler historic sites, delicious street food, and a good place to bathe and feed an elephant. Recommended destinations include Wat Chedi Luang and Wat Phra That Doi Suthep.
Chiang Mai is also celebrated for her temperate climate, international flavor, unique culture, and diverse nightlife. A short one-hour flight from Bangkok, Chiang Mai has long been considered one of the most livable and delightful cities in Asia.
