One the most advanced technologies in dentistry today is the CEREC

. It stands for CEramic REConstruction. The CEREC technology has been around for about 20 years and is proving to be one the most reliable, time effective, and painless ways to restore your tooth back to healthy function. All of this in one day without ever placing a temporary filling.

CEREC porcelain inserts such as inlays, onlays, and even crowns are fabricated in one visit and usually in about an hour. The process is simple. In this video Dr. Ganatra shows you how to place a porcelain insert, inlay, only, or even a crown in one visit without temporaries.

The process begins when Dr. Ganatra gently removes the decayed portion of the tooth and takes a digital picture of the prepped tooth. This is done by spraying a titanium dioxide powder on the prepped portion of the tooth to provide a reflective surface so the CEREC digital camera can read the tooth and size it up with measurements and outlines it needs to digitally design a porcelain tooth. Once the picture gets accepted into the CEREC software Dr. Ganatra can start designing all of the critical elements of the tooth. Everything is customizable and is made to fit that specific area of the tooth that was prepped away due to the decay. Different functions and application buttons on the CEREC software are utilized to finalize an ideal size and shape for the porcelain insert.

Once the shape and size of the porcelain insert, inlay, or onlay is determined by using the CEREC shaping and forming tools then the real magic of milling the porcelain insert can begin. A porcelain block of the appropriate color and translucency is placed into the milling chamber and then two diamond burs or points cut away at it with micron precision. In about 8-10 minutes the porcelain filling is ready to be placed into the tooth.

After it is done milling Dr. Ganatra simply prepares the porcelain with the necessary bonding agents and then cements it into the tooth with a permanent cement. No temporaries are placed, no messy impressions are taken and all of this is finished within about an hour.

CEREC Porcelain fillings are not only changing the way your teeth look and feel, but also making it more easier and painless to get great dental treatment done in about an hour.
