Bulawayo is one of the largest city of Zimbabwe located in the south west of the capital Harare and it is the hub of the province of Matabeleland which comprises the whole western Zimbabwe from the South African border in the south to Victoria Falls in the north. Bulawayo has a number of things to offer to any visitor. There are many things to see in the surrounding area of Bulawayo such as the Hwange National Park, Victoria Falls and Moto National Park. Apart from the natural scenes and sites, Bulawayo is also popular as a popular business destination.
Bulawayo has long been and is still regarded as the second business capital of Zimbabwe after Harare and is home to the National Railways of Zimbabwe because of its strategic position near Botswana and South Africa. It is the nearest large city to Hwange National Park, Matopo National Park and Victoria Falls.

Zimbabwe's International Trade Fair (ZITF) is also sited in Bulawayo. This forum attracts exhibitors from the SADC region as well as others from overseas countries, mostly wishing to trade with Zimbabwe. The Trade Fair also provides Zimbabwean companies with a window to exhibit their own products to the outside world.
The Railway Museum:
The Railway Museum, one of the few of its kind in the world, houses a collection of many obsolete railway memorabilia steam locomotives, rolling stock and station buildings - with a variety of other exhibits dating back to 1897 when the first steam engine rolled into the country. Bulawayo is the country's railway junction and marshalling yard.
Bulawayo National Art Gallery:
The National Gallery in Bulawayo is a branch of the NGZ in Zimbabwe. It was located for some years in an old market building behind City Hall, but since 1993 has occupied Douslin House on Main Street, an elegant two-storey building of 190. On-site workshops offer handmade batiks, and there is a shop which sells artwork, curios, sculptures and genuine tribal artifacts.
When to Visit:
Whenever travel to Zimbabwe, the best and most suitable time is April through May and August through September. It is better to go to Zimbabwe in late April or early May as a consequence of the annual 6-day Harare International Festival in the Arts. It is the largest cultural event in a rural area and one of the leading festivals in Africa. The festival covers 5 disciplines of arts: music, theatre, spoken word, artworks, and dance.
