ATP Tour – Rogers Cup has all of the stars confirmed and ready for action

"O Canada", that's how their national anthem begins as thousands of Canadians welcome

the world to their oldest and most important tennis tournament: the Rogers Cup. This year the city of Toronto will have the privilege to host the greatest players of the ATP World Tour, since it rotates the venue every year with Montreal. With a capacity of up to 12,500 spectators, the Rexall Centre will vibrate with the best Tennis exponents in the world.

Organized by Tennis Canada, a non profit sport association, and presented by National Bank, this Masters 1000 event has $3 million in prize money. During August 7th- 15th, 56 players will begin their race for the first place, which is currently held by the Scottish Andy Murray, product of his victory last year in the Uniprix Stadium in Montreal against the Argentinean Juan Martin del Potro, two sets to one.

Speaking about the champion, the 23 year old right-handed player began this month of August with the left feet, as he lost the final of the 2010 Farmers Classic in Los Angeles, California, against the American Sam Querrey. On July 27th Murray announced that Miles Maclagan will no longer be his coach, after: "a lot of success and fun working together", the player said. Miles has the best wishes for his pupil and is confident as he thinks that: "he will continue to have the success his talent and hard work deserves". No more news have been reported since Murray will only talk about this subject once the US Open is done. Right now his mind is set on the hard-court season.

On the other hand, good news for the fans: Rafael Nadal will be back on tour in the Rogers Cup, after the break he took when winning Wimbledon. The Spaniard has already tasted victory in Canada when he won back in 2005 and 2008, and has three objectives on target for this month: this Canadian Masters, The Cincinnati Masters, and of course the US Open; the only title that has been denied in his career. "We are definitely expecting one of the best fields we have ever hosted here in Toronto"

Novak Djokovic is looking to improve his performance in the Rogers Cup, where he lost last year in the quarterfinals to the American Andy Roddick, and was only able to add 180 points out of the 1000 in game. The Serbian is currently number two of the world, which also happens to be the best position in the ranking that he has ever occupied, after finishing in third place for three years in a row. He is one of the players to keep and eye on, as he is young (23 years) and talented.

Roger Federer will be celebrating his birthday during the competition, he will turn 29 on August 8th, and as a gift he wants those 1000 points that would propel him to the second place in the raking, helping him to reduce the gap of 4000 points that currently separates him and Nadal.

Days go by and the excitement in the fans continues to grow, and the organizers can't help to share this feeling neither, since they: "are definitely expecting one of the best fields we have ever hosted here in Toronto", according to Karl Hale from Tennis Canada. With the table ready and the food about to be served, we all have the same question: "O Canada", who will be the champ?
