There are over 40 different species of trees in the park and has a great area for rugby and football games. The brass band that was created in 1846 plays frequently in the park throughout the summer.
Boat building, rope making and sail making are the three things that Woodbridge was most famous for. You can see the results of this passion for perfection on the piers. One of the two tide mills that are in working in England is located here and visiting the perfectly restored Tide Mill will be very interesting. In addition, visiting Buttrum's Wind Mill has also been fully restored and contains the historic grinding equipment intact.
The beautiful Sutton Hoo overlooks Woodbridge and offers a wonderful array of exhibitions, activities and events throughout the year. The 245 acres contains wonderful artifacts and there are falconry lessons, archery lessons, theatre, and a teaching centre that will give you all of the interesting facts about the history of the region. The Anglo-Saxon Royal burial site is sat on 245 acres and there are regular walking tours that lead through beautiful forest, amazing meadows and interesting discussions with the guide about the area.
You will notice in the pastures and fields that there are huge horses that look so gentle and loving you are tempted to reach out and touch them. These are the world's oldest horse and is as gentle as it looks. The Suffolk Punch, or Suffolk Horse is one of the most famous working horses in the world. The history of this magnificent animal is found in Shire Hall which is located about halfway through Market Hill. There are wonderful exhibitions of the history of this great horse. In July the Maverick Festival celebrates this horse and the cowboy way. Music, arts, booths, competitions, food, ale, and the unique arts found throughout the region are all available for your enjoyment.
The Suffolk Festival of the Performing Arts involves the entire town and will provide you with wonder entertainment, dance, singers, theatre, arts, and activities. Then, in July, the annual Regatta Riverside Fair gives visitors a great opportunity to celebrate the River. A wonderful activity packed fair will bring rowing, rafting, crabbing, river trips and a greasy pole competition.
There have people living in Woodbridge since Roman times and you can see a great collection of artifacts that span the entire history of the area at the Woodbridge Museum. When you are strolling down Market Hill, the leisurely walk will lead you to shops and galleries that are unique to the town and reside in the historic buildings that are breathtaking in their beauty.
