First of all, as I previously mentioned, being consistent and reliable are sometime more important than "stirring things up". Think about it this way...Your girlfriend is looking for the guy that is reliable day in and day out. She would much rather a guy is there for her all the time than the guy that springs roses on her and is inconsistent.
Second, you need to make sure your words and messages are congruent. If you are sad and smiling your girlfriend doesn't hear you words, she sees your expressions. You need to be on the same page and she needs to be able to trust what you are saying. When everything matches, you can build trust.
Next, this is a simple one,one that goes without explanation. You have to believe in your girlfriends competency, her ability to do things appropriately.
Never keep secrets. Secrets require time, energy and shake the foundation of all relationships. There are a few exceptions to this rule however, but the safe bet is always to be honest.
Fifth, Don't play the guessing game. Let her know what your needs are and don't be afraid to ask for them. Don't go over board on this one. Guys have grand imaginations and some things are best left unsaid. However, if you are feeling like there is a part of your relationship that is being neglected or you feel strongly that something needs to be changed, get it out. It will only strengthen your relationship.
Next, Learn to say NO! This comes with it's limitations, however never be afraid to say no if it is something that really makes you uncomfortable. Who wants a push over that says yes all the time, anyway.
Last, in a relationship, you have to always grow and move forward. If you're sitting still you're dying. Relationships take effort, but the payoff is huge if you foster and nurture your relationship.
Trust is a tough concept to embrace, but if you work on it, it will make your relationship an everlasting, unbreakable bond.
