2. Mind your camera!

Protect your camera first. The sand and water has taken the lives of several digital cameras. So take extra protection by sealing them inside zip-lock bags when near the lakes, sand, or beach.

You don't want to miss out on some sight-seeing time or bonding with others if you're too busy take pictures. So take photos only when you feel like it, lest this ruins the whole experience.

3. Stroll and Play around Eli Creek.

A nice, shady creek with a trail of wooden bridges makes Eli Creek a fun site for friendly games. Water level is not too deep. It's perfect for some water and tug-of-war games. The whole ambiance of this place is truly relaxing, and entices any group to play games.

4. Watch the sunrise near the beach.

Camp within Eurong where you can have a splendid sight of the beach! You will be delighted to wake up every morning in close proximity to the beach. Watching the sun go up before day light is a grand experience. While everything's quiet and you only hear the sea waves, you know it's going to be one beautiful day!

5. Swim and enjoy the waters at Champagne Pools.

Known for its low and lovely rock formations, plus the unique effect made by splashing waves onto them make Champagne Pools a destination of choice on Fraser Island. As the sea waves crash through the rocks, the downpour of water comes out like white champagne! This place is something cool when you just want to relax and feel the refreshing water. Note that you would be able to come across swimming schools of little fishes. What a natural haven!

6. Try driving a 4wd vehicle.

Driving a 4wd vehicle on the island is a unique experience. Most guided tours (except those in buses) allow backpackers to drive for their group. Before going on tour, you will be given orientation on how to drive through sand and near the water. It's a challenge to drive on sand but everything comes out to be an awesome adventure once you get the hang of it!

7. Swim at Lake McKenzie!

Go swim and enjoy the cool blue-green waters of Lake McKenzie. It's the best one that Fraser Island can boast about in the entire world! With its pure white sand, safe waters, and blue-green colour, I'm not sure how you can resist it!

8. Gaze up and watch the stars at night.

The skies are wide and clear almost every night on Fraser Island. One of the best things we did as a group was to sit on sand near the beach, along with our flash lights (yes, it is not allowed to have camp fires there), and just look up to gaze at the milky way above us. You don't often see too many stars and too wide a sky in your entire lifetime. Fraser Island stargazing simply offer s you that amazing experience!

9. Eat Barbecue and Pasta for dinner!

Who says campers can't get some gourmet food while on an island? Now, you can get your freshly-grilled barbecue hot and yummy for dinner. And if you remembered to shop for your pasta ingredients before heading to Fraser Island then you can have some nice spaghetti dish, as well! A popular tour operator in Hervey Bay has its complete kitchen-camp-trailer where you can actually cook food (including barbecue). It has a stove, sink and faucet, kitchen and cooking utensils, barbecue grill, plus covered tables! It's really a perfect way to enjoy Fraser Island backpacking.

10. Go Party and Get yourself Drunk!10 Tips for a Unique Fraser Island Tour

The authentic Aussie lifestyle involves some beers and cheers, isn't? So get drunk and party! But remember, drink just enough so as not to throw yourself onto the beach or bury your face on the sand. Wines and spirits will also keep you warm on colder nights. When you travel with other people from different countries and cultures, partying together is a nice way to bond and know each other more. Just make sure your liquor is in cans not in bottles.
