With the location of the Canary Islands close location to the north of Africa it's

some wonder why one of the islands doesn't offer a ferry service over for a day. Well that day is here, Lanzarote has set up a ferry to take people to the port of Tarfaya in Morocco. The option of direct flights was always available between the two countries but the idea of a ferry over is much more attractive as you get to sail over the Atlantic Ocean.

The small stretch of water was generally used for freight traffic for import export goods such as fruits. Whilst this helped both economies there will be a much more significant improvement due to this new influx of tourists coming either way. The earnings per year could easily rise to an extra million or so for each destination just with the simple offer of a day trip to another country. This link had been planned for a while and the fact that it has come to life now during an economic slump means that they will be earning some more much needed money.

The idea of being able to travel whilst on your travels is very appealing to me and I can only assume for many others also. Having the option to take in two countries culture in one go is very desirable because in this instance could you imagine booking two separate holidays in two different continents, there would most definitely be a hefty price tag attached. The ferry method means you only get a day to experience another land but that should be all you need. Out of the two places I would rather stay in Lanzarote but I would also like to experience the culture that Morocco has to offer.

The ferry that leaves from Lanzarote will be docked at Puerto Marmoles which is found between the locations Costa Teguise and Arrecife on the southern coast of the island.

Of course this will have some success with attracting people to the island but for those who have already been they will understand the beauty of the place needs little incentive. With a landscape that has been dramatically affected by the volcanic eruptions that occurred many, many years ago there are indeed some fantastic sights to see. The dried up lava has left formations that have often been described as lunar and Martian.

This new attraction that takes you the 79 mile distance to Morocco is sure to entice a fair few extra tourists to the tropical island but I believe that majority of visitors who make the distance are simply returning.
