VNUS Stands Out as the Best Treatment for Varicose Veins

Varicose veins treatment varies and in order to better understand how varicose veins develop and how to effectively treat this disease, it should be pointed out that the human leg is composed of two distinctly separate vein systems. Right under the skin is the superficial vein system and it is this system that is prone to developing varicose veins. The Deep system is deeper down near the bone and hardly ever acquires varicose vein issues. One way valves are built into the veins that pump blood to the heart.

One of the causes of varicose veins is genetic. Pregnancy, heavy lifting, standing on hard surfaces like cement for long time periods, and obesity are also conditions that can cause varicose veins. Smoking, hormonal imbalances and aging are also contributing factors. When the vein walls have been weakened by excess pressure they start to lose their elasticity and stretch. The valves are separated from the walls and cannot do their job. As more of the veins stretch more continue to stretch like a domino effect. There are cases too where the varicose vein is so close to the surface of the skin it actually can erode its way through the skin and start bleeding.

Varicose veins treatment are the following:

Laser treatment

Ambulatory Phlebectomy

Sclerotherapy injections

VNUS Closure Procedure

The laser treatment provides excellent results against spider veins. These are usually one to three millimetres in diameter. Using a handheld wand the laser emits a strong heat that when it hits the spider vein it causes the blood to clot and the vein dries up. There is little pain or heat felt if the pigment of the skin is light.

Ambulatory phlebectomy removes five to six centimetre sections of the vein. Consequently clotting and scarring occurs with the remaining part of the vein causing the vein to eventually dry up. The vein may also be sutured to stop any blood from returning. This procedure is done under local anaesthesia. Compression stockings must be worn about ten days afterwards.

Schlerotherapy injections are applied to the veins, usually spider veins or reticular veins one to five millimetres in diameter. The injection feels like a pin prick.

VNUS Closure Procedure involves running a catheter into the diseased vein, heating the catheter so that the vein collapses and eventually disappears. The only incision made is for the catheter. Downtime is short, local anaesthesia is applied, and the success rate is very good.

There are several varicose veins treatments available. It is best to be advised by one's doctor what the best options are.
