Being a motorhome enthusiast for five years now, I've always dreamt of that extended trip of twelve weeks or so in Macedonia. Being a self employed doctor, I finally realised that I was in a position to make this dream a reality. My wife Natasha and our faithful dog Scamp were more than willing to be travel partners on this trip of a lifetime. So after much research, planning and packing we were finally on the road to Macedonia. My motorhome is a six year old four berth, A Class Hymer with a Fiat Ducato engine and our previous longest trip was a seven night trip to Wales, covering 800 kilometres. This trip started with a rough ferry trip, to take us to the continent, followed by a pleasant but long road journey to our destination. We decided to make four overnight stops on our way there and these were mainly in campsites, which suited us perfectly, as it broke up our journey. We slept at the Landmark for a special event. We had booked a Deluxe room but have been upgraded at sign in to an Executive room looking over the Winter Garden atrium. Check in was everything you expect from a 5 stars hotel. Professional, managed as well as well-mannered with the member of staff coping with you only and no other distractions. Our room requests have been attained without being prompted, even for that upgraded room and we have been shown to the lifts from the receptionist. It had been an excellent start.The room was wonderful - large, with taste equipped (really Four Seasons layout) with a few great touches as an umbrella in the entrance hall area and also digital weighing scales!. Like the room, the restroom was big with distinct dressing/sinks spots, bath and big walk-in shower and independent toilet. Water pressure was good. The only problems have been the very ancient CRT tv as well as the lacking room safe that left a opening over the minibar.The space was extremely peaceful and the windows offered fine sound prevention even though there seems to be little action within the atrium eventually at dusk.There was breakfast in the atrium's Winter Garden...more
