Madeira Island is in the Atlantic Ocean, and located just off the south-western coast of Portugal. Madeira has several golden beaches where which will help you to leave the island with a wonderful tan while you are relaxing.If you are looking for a break where you can do nothing more than just lying in the sun while tanning and relaxing, Madeira is perfect. But if also offers you more than enough to see and do when you get tired from just simply doing anything. Madeira offers tourists a lot of water skiing and sailing activities, and water fanatics would definitely enjoy a holiday here. And while you do all of this you can take the chance and dip into the beautiful crystal clear waters that surround this magnificent island.
If you like to surf, there will be more than enough opportunities for you to just grab a board and catch some waves. The island of Madeira receives it swells from the North Atlantic, and therefore the island offers waves for surfers that will include a lot of point breaks and reef breaks. Not all the surf spots will have this advantage though. But if you are an adrenaline junkie and you are looking for more, there are many activities that will meet you needs. There are also many horse-riding opportunities available and the chance to play some tennis should you want to. The island of Madeira also features two golf courses.
You will probably be starving after such a fun day filled with plenty of exciting activities. And you will be happy to know that there are many restaurants and cafes that can be found in Madeira. If you wish to try some of the local cooking, there is plenty opportunity for that. Or if you want to fall back on something that you know, that will also be available. You will definitely find a restaurant that will cater for your needs.
Although you will probably have a packed schedule, it is advised that you take in some of the culture Madeira has to offer. There are many art galleries in Madeira, and this in particular highlights the cultural, economic and social history of the island. The modern art lovers will surely enjoy the Sugar Museum. It features work of Portuguese artists and some artists from the Contemporary Art Museum.
Of course you will have many opportunities to just relax on the wide variety of golden sandy beaches and get a nice tan. No matter what your interests are, Madeira as a holiday destination will not disappoint you.
