Holidays on the Costa del Sol and distances

Holidays on the Costa del Sol and distances

We start in the most popular part of the Costa del Sol, the western coast. Here, since the 60s has developed here a large resort along the original fishermen villages with a large tourist infrastructure and vivacious nightlife, all in a fun and exotic combination.

Our first stop is in Torremolinos, 12 km from Malaga and which has, contrary to Marbella which is reserved for the jet-set, a real mix of all social classes and the most diverse types. Its centre, the Carihuela, the old fishermen's quarter, is surrounded by tall buildings devoted to tourism. All are filled with bars for many different tastes, from the most sophisticated to the most informal. Your vacation here will not give you the pleasures of a desert island, but it definitely has something when masses of people around the world choose it as their preferred place for holidays; for fun, you will have plenty of possibilities.

Following the coast, and almost without noticing it, we arrive at Benalmadena, 29 km from Malaga, a picturesque white village of fishermen; it is as well very touristy, but in this case with a many national tourists. It also has a huge amusement park with entertainment of all kinds.Holidays on the Costa del Sol and distances

The next stop, 34 km from Malaga, is Fuengirola, with has both national and international tourism and has a very long sandy beach to enjoy the warm bath in the blue waters of the Mediterranean.

After this municipality, there is the famous and cosmopolitan Marbella, 57 km from Malaga. On both sides of the road are tall hedges that insulate the luxury homes. The charming village with its neat white offers a really endearing visit. Just 4 from Marbella, we find the exclusive Puerto Banus, which concentrates the most luxurious yachts, restaurants and shops, within the scenario of what was once a small fishing port.

The next stop is San Pedro de Alcantara, a former fishing village that preserves valuable Roman and early Christian remains. Due to its location next to Marbella it is not surprising that it has also attracted tourists and therefore modern housing estates.

And finally, 90 km from Malaga is located Estepona. A quiet fishing village that has wisely kept the original atmosphere of the old city, combined with modern buildings along its sea promenade.

28 km west from Malaga city there is the interior road to the White village of Mijas, a charming mountain village situated in the mountains next to Fuengirola from where you have a fantastic view of the coastline. Many tour groups visit it, but its appeal is not for less.

The next beauty is Ojen, 65 km from Malaga, situated in the mountains of Marbella. It is a quiet and charming mountain village and exceptionally untouched. The most interesting places to visit are the viewpoint Mirador de Juanar with a beautiful panoramic sight and the Valle de los Naranjos.

At 16 km we find a virtually unknown jewel, Casares, a charming village situated in the mountains of Estepona, which offers one of the most romantic and beautiful landscapes of Andalusia.

The stunning Ronda and the Serrana de Ronda deserve separate chapter, with a landscape and a city out of a dream and one of the jewels of Spain.
